Task 1.2. Assessment of individual risk at the facility

Assess the level of mortality risk at the enterprise, if total number of workers is N, and during previous y years n workers died due to technogenic reasons and y persons were killed by criminals. Note that the coefficient of the tool deterioration is k₁. Find input data in Table°A.2.

Example 1.2

Assess risk to injury at the enterprise. The number of employees is 154, and during 14 years 43 persons were injured. The coefficient of the tool deterioration is 0.5.

To assess risk level formula (1.1) should be used. For this purpose let’s transform it in accordance with the task of calculation:

n denotes number of the injured persons, n =43;

N denotes maximum number of dangerous events, N =154;

k₁ is the coefficient which includes changes of deterioration, k₁ =0.5.

k₂ is the coefficient of recalculation of dangerous events number per 1 year, k₂ =1/14.

Thus,

Conclusions. Individual risk R=9.97×10^-3 is higher than acceptable level 10^-8, thus the level of calculated individual risk is unacceptable.
