COMPETITION CONDITIONS

The last term to submit the application is the 18th of September, 2016

 

GENERAL CONDITIONS

1.1. The Third International Competition of Conductors named after Stefan Turchak (hereinafter – the Competition) will take place in Kyiv (Ukraine) from the 18th to the 23rd of October, 2016 and will be finished with the final concert of the prize-winners.

 

1.2. The preparation and holding of the Competition is done by the Organizing Committee on preparation and holding of the Competition (hereinafter - Organizing Committee), the international Jury (hereinafter – Jury), the State Methodological Center for State Institutions of Culture and Arts of Ukraine (hereinafter – Board).

 

1.3. The prominent musical art workers from Ukraine and from abroad are invited to the Jury. In their work the Jury relies on the “Jury Provisions”, submitted by the Head of the Organising Committee.

 

1.4. Opera-symphonic conductors of any nationality, who have special music education, students of higher schools, who agrees with the proposed conditions, can take part in the competition.

 

1.5. The competitors can take part in the Competition if in the year, when the Competition is held (as for the 18 th of October, 2016) they are not older than 35 years old.

 

1.6. To take part in the Competition it is a must to comply with the Competition Programme requirements (attached).

 

1.7. The First Prize winners of the previous Competitions are prohibited to take part in this Competition.

 

APPLICATIONS

 

2.1. The deadline for applications to take part in the Competition (the sample is attached) is 18th of Septembert, 2016. Written application date is determined by the first postmark.

 

2.2. Application Form must be submitted together with the following:

· a photocopy of birth certificate or of the appropriate page(s) of candidate’s passport certifying his/her age;

· a photocopy of diploma of musical education, for current students – a reference from the place of study;

· works biography (curriculum vitae) in printed version (up to 1800 typed symbols);

· 1 coloured photo (the traditional print-out the size should be 9x12 cm, suitable for printing, and if the electronic format is used, the minimal resolution must be 1600x1200);

· copies of any competition diplomas (if available);

· the electronic recording of the performance with the symphonic orchestra up to 20 minutes;

· programme of performance in three tours of the Competition;

· a photocopy of the identification code (for citizens of Ukraine).

 

2.3. Application with all the attachments should be sent to the address of the Board:

2.4. After the applications processing the Organising Committee will allow not more than 24 candidates to take part in the Competition.

 

2.5. All the candidates, that were allowed to take part in the Competition will get the official invitation before the 20th of September, 2016.

 

2.6. Documents sent after the deadline or incomplete documents are not considered.

 

2.7. The deadline for changes in the programme of the competition performances is the 25th of September, 2016.

 

COMPETITION RULES

 

3.1. The competition programme consists of three tours (two selective and one final). All Competition performances are open to the public.

 

3.2. The order of competitors’ performances is determined by the drawing of lots before the first tour and is preserved till the end of the Competition.

 

3.3. No more than 12 competitors from the first tour shall be selected to proceed to the second tour.

 

3.4. The evaluation of the participant performances of the First and Second selective tours is done via the secret voting.

 

3.5. No more than 5 competitors shall be selected to proceed to the final tour.

 

3.6. The final distribution of the places and awards will take place at the final jury meeting, and will be done via the open voting separately on every candidate.

 

3.7. The decision of the Jury in all tours of the Competition shall be final and no review will be permitted.

 

3.8. The Organising Committee preserves the right to transmit on radio and TV the competition audition and the final concert, their audio and video recording, and also to distribute these materials without the payment of the emoluments.

 

3.9. The Competition laureates and prize-winners are obliged to perform for free in the final concert of the Competition.

 

3.10. The Competition is held in the Grand Hall of the National Music Academy of Ukraine named after P.I. Tchaikovskiy (First tour). The concert of the prize-winners of the Competition will take place in National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre of Ukraine named after T.G. Shevchenko.

 

FINANCIAL CONDITIONS

 

4.1. Each candidate for participation shall pay the entrance fee in the amount of $ 100 (one hundred of the united states dollars) – in the hryvnia equivalent in accordance with the acceptable exchange rate of the National Bank of Ukraine for the day of payment. Without the entrance fee the candidates are not allowed to participate in the Competition.

 

4.2. In case the Competitor refuses to participate in the Competition, the documents and entrance fee shall not be returned.

 

4.3. The expenses connected with living in Kyiv (accommodation and meals) of competitors from other towns during the Competition is held are carrying out by competitors.

 

4.4. The expenses for the trip to Kyiv and back, are paid by the competitors of the Competition.

 

4.5. The Competitors that did not go through the First and the Second tour can stay to the end of the Competition on their own account.

 

PRIZES AND AWARDS

 

5.1. The Competition Committee has established the following awards for the prize-winners: One first prize - $ 3000 (three thousand USD),Great Cup,

laureate title and the golden medal;

One second prize - $ 2000 (two thousand USD),

laureate title and the silver medal;

One third prize - $ 1000 (one thousand USD),

laureate title and the bronze medal;

 

The finalists, that were not awarded with the laureate title (not more than two) are awarded with the Diplomant title and with the diplomant medal.

 

5.2. The Organisational Committee and the Jury have the right to establish the special prises and awards for the participants of the Competition.

 

5.3. The Jury has the right:

· not to award all the prises;

· divide the awards between the performers (excepting the first one);

· to additionally award with the second or third award, if the first or the second award was not given accordingly.

 

5.4. All the prizes are paid in hryvnias (UAH) at the National Bank of Ukraine official exchange rate set on the day of Competition balance approval, at the same time, in accordance with the Ukrainian legislation, they are automatically withhold:

1) Payments to the Pension Fund of Ukraine in the amount of 2%;

2) Personal income tax in the amount of 15% or 17%.

 

5.5. The social, charity, musical and international organizations, the sponsors of the Competition, and also the separate prominent art workers can on their own account establish special prizes and awards for the participants of the Competition. It is an obligation to agree such awards with the Jury of the Competition.

 

5.6. In case there are any disputes concerning the interpretation of these conditions of the Competition, the correct text is considered to be the Ukrainian.
