Electronic Magazines

1. The Internet is the host to a variety of magazines that are published electronically. That is, the articles are stored as text files that are accessible to one and all. These magazines also often feature interactive elements such as hyperlinks both within the publication itself and to other internet resources, searching and bookmarking, and can also incorporate multimedia such as video or animation to enhance articles themselves or for advertisements.

2. Some e-Magazines or digital editions are scholarly journals of interest mainly to specialists. Other magazines are of general interest. Many general interest online magazines provide free access to all aspects of their online content although some publishers have opted to require a subscription fee to access premium online article and/or multi-media content.

3. There are several reasons to read digital editions nowadays. Some people choose them for environmental reasons, others like them because they are easy to save and have the ability to search. And of course, they don’t clutter the office or house like printed magazines and newspapers do.

4. Digital readers also say that paper editions can’t provide them those services which are available online. One can contact the author of the article immediately after having read it. You can click on embedded links and find more interesting information. You can also recommend the digital mag to a friend or bookmark the page.

5. Digital editions offer real cost benefits. It is much less expensive to produce and distribute them, especially when subscribers are located in remote places. The Internet can get publications into subscribers’ hands much faster than the mail service. This is especially important in modern society.
