A Excuse me, I’m doing a survey about weekends for the college magazine. Can you answer some questions, please?

B Well, I’ve got a class in 10 minutes. Oh, well, OK.

A Thanks. First, what time do you usually get up at weekends?

B Well, on Saturdays I usually get up quite early. I’ve got swimming on Saturday morning, so I get up about 8 o’clock. On Sundays I get up later – about 10 or 11.

A Right. What time do you go to bed?

B Huh! That depends. Quite early on Fridays at about 11. But on Saturdays I sometimes go to bed at about 1 or 2, you know…

A Right! That’s early on Friday, late on Saturday. Next question - do you do any sports at weekends?

B Well, as I said I go swimming on Saturday mornings. Oh! And in the summer I play tennis on Saturday afternoons at the tennis club.

A And Sundays?

B No, I don’t do any sport on Sundays.

A And how often do you go out and where?

B Well, I always go out on Saturday nights with my friends. Sometimes we go to a concert, but we usually go dancing. I really love dancing, you know… And there’s a good club that’s just open near where I live.

A OK, dancing and sometimes a concert. Next, a tricky one – do you help at home?

B Huh, well, I always take the dog out. My Dad and I take it out, you know, on Sunday morning for a good walk. And I like cooking. I often cook the supper on Friday evenings. I did a cookery course last year, so I’m not bad. On Sundays we always have a big family lunch, and my brother and I usually end up doing the washing-up.

A OK, nearly finished. How much do you watch TV?

B Well, I’m busy on Fridays and Saturdays, but on Sunday afternoons I like watching a film on the telly.

A Just one last question – another tricky one – how much do you study at the weekend?

B M-m-m… That’s a difficult question. I try, you know, to do a lot of work on Friday evening. Then I’m free for the rest of the weekend, but that’s doesn’t always happen. I often have to study on Sunday evenings – I just hate that.

A That’s it. Thanks a lot.

B That’s OK.
