write-protect notch A notch in the vinyl cover of the floppy disk that, when cov­ered, keeps the disk from being written on.

WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) A function of word processing that allows the user to see on the screen exactly what will be printed.

x-terminal A special type of workstation which uses high-resolution graphics to display subscripts and special symbols on the screen.
