Types of Practical assignments

1. Offer several tasks in reading (the text will be supplied).
2. Offer a sequence of speaking tasks on the basis of the given text or on the basis of the given speech patterns.
3. Analyse the given lexical units or grammar phenomena from the viewpoint of their meaning, form, and usage. Give some practical advice concerning presentation and practice.
4. Present the given vocabulary items to your imaginary learners.
5. Explain the form and/or the meaning of a grammar phenomenon to students of a certain age. Ensure maximum learner participation!
6. Work out a sequence of tasks aimed at practising the use of the given language material.
7. Work out the rules of identifying and understanding the given homonymous structures. (E.g., explain how to translate the structure “going home”: «возвращение домой, идя домой, идущий домой»? Show what the translation depends on. In other words, work out a reader-oriented rule. Supply contexts removing ambiguity.
8. Adapt the given text for the needs of aural comprehension.
9. Show how a Russian-language phenomenon should be translated into English, if it is wider in meaning than its English counterparts.
10. Analyse the given lesson from the viewpoint of its stages and links or in terms of the connections between the tasks. Is the lesson planned logically? If it isn't, suggest how it could be improved.
