Theatre preparation

To ensure efficient and safe running of the theatre list, it should be managed by a designated person, usually the most senior. Infection control

A meticulous theatre-cleaning regime is fundamental to preventing infection. Theatres should be clean and dust free, ventilation systems must be in working order and doors must be kept closed. All items needed for the operation should be in place and an adequate supply of regularly used items should be on hand to minimise movement to and from theatre during the operation.
