Introduction

More than 2500 languages are spoken on our planet. The most widely spoken language English. Today English is used by at least 750 million people and barely half of those speak it as a mother tongue. It has become the language of the planet, the first truly global language.

Three-quarters of the world is mail, and it is telexes and cables are in English. English is the medium for 80 percent of the information stored in the word is computers. It is the language of sports and glamour: the official language of the Olympics and the Miss Universe Competition. English is the official voice of the cur and the sea, and of Christianity: it is the ecumenical language of the World Council of Churches.

English is studied as a foreign language in many schools. I learn English too, so it is interested in for me to describe the motherland of the language and English-speaking people. It was a reason of the choice of the subject of my scientific work. I want to compare Britain with my native country.

I did like to describe traditional English homes, high days, the way of life, their clothes, characters, monetary system and compare with Ukrainian people.
