PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bedrock probing method capable of easily and securely predicting geological features based on measuring data of a hydraulic system mainly when drilling a hole by a hydraulic rock drill. In the calculation of the hole drilling energy, impact energy is first calculated from a pressure receive area of a piston of a hydraulic cylinder device giving an impact when drilling the hole, a stroke length of the piston, and an impact pressure.; Next, hole drilling energy is calculated from impact energy, the number of striking per unit time, hole drilling speed, and a hole cross sectional area for drilling the hole. When the hole is drilled, a feed pressure for pressing a bit of the hydraulic rock drill 2 against the bedrock is kept substantially constant during drilling of the hole.
