Syntectical stylistic devices

The stylistic effect may be created not only due to the relations of elements in the limits of one sentence but also due to the relation between several sentences. So we are to analyse some bigger units (paragraphs or super sentence units).

Stylictic devices in syntax are means of combination of sentence-models within the limits of the supersentence units. In this case a stylistic device is created not only by the combination of stylistically marked sentence-models but stylistically unmarked models as well.

According to the character of the relations between the syntectical structures and according to the character of connection between the structures we distinguish the following groups of syntectical stylistic devices:

1. Stylistic devices based on the formal and semantic combination of syntactical constructions of the model. Here we refer

· Parallelism

· Chiasmus

· Anaphora

· Epiphora

2. Stylistic devices based on the transposition of the meaning of the structures in contex. Here we refer:

· Rhetoric question

3. Stylistic devices based on the transposition of the meaning of connection between sentences. Here we refer:

· Parcellation

· Subordination instead coodination

· Coodination instead subordination
