Read and translate the following dialogues

Dialogue 1

− Excuse me. Where is your captain?

− Our captain is over there.

− How do you do? I am the safety superintentend of your ship, I am in charge of the safe works during repairing. This is my name card. If you have any questions regarding safety, please let me know, I hope we can cooperate very well.

− He’s the safety inspector, he’s my assistant, and he can reach me if you have.

− Can we set two smocking stations on the proe deck and stern deck?

− Yes, you can. But you need to make identifications over there.

− If you do hot repairing works or painting works by yourself, you have to inform our ship repairing manager (SRM) in advance.

− OK! We will.

− Could you write down this apparatus’s (device’s) name for us?

− OK! Here you are.

Dialogue 2

− We have strict regulations for explosion measuring (oxygen measuring). Don’t worry about it! I am not in charge of it, but I can send words to the related person.

− Sir, we equipped eight portable fire extinguishers and two fire hoses with your ship, their pressure kept qualified, do you satisfied with this arrangement? Both of us will be in charge of the fire-fighting work during the repairing

− Well done! Thank you.

− The following work is very important, could you arrange somebody to monitor the operation, sir?

− OK!

− Please show me the last voyage chemicals list in the cargo holds?

− OK!

− We will start the hot repairing works in FPT, please send crewmembers to take away the cables overthere!

− The cables have been worked off.

− Could you tell me what oil is stored in this tank? Can you write it down for me?

− Please open your materials storeroom! I have to check it up before beginning the repairing works.

− Wearing the safety helmet (safety belt), please! This is our safety regulations please observe it conscientiously!

Dialogue 3

− The work area of this oil bunker by hot repairing is very large and the oil needs to be cleaned up thoroughly.

− I am sorry. I need to ask for instructions from my superior before replying you.

− OK!

− I have checked it before the working, no problem with it!

− That’s OK!

− The propeller is being worked. Don’t turn the engine, please!

− That’s OK! I’ll reform our chief engineer (second engineer).

Dialogue 5

− We have arranged full-time people to guard the area where hot work is done, and have prepared fire pumps or fire extinguishers.

− How much oil stored in this tank? Draw a sketch for me please!

− Where does this pipe lead? Draw a sketch for me please!

− Here you are.

Dialogue 6

− The oil in the tank has to be transferred firstly, then clear out the oil, and after that the hull’s armor plate can be replaced lastly.

− OK!

− The repairing work is not allowed to begin unless measures being taken to protect this cable.

− I think so also.

− Be careful! The deck is very slippery.

− Thanks for reminding us of it!

− The batch needs to be opened further more; otherwise, the ventilation is not good.
