Leveling instruments
Up-to-date levels, as a rule, have a telescope with internal focusing and are constructed so that it is convenient to observe the position of the level tube bubble when sighting on the rod.
Leveling rods have divisions of 1 or 2 cm called value of rod division. When the distance from the level to the rod is 100-500 m it is advisable to use rods with two-centimeter divisions. Every 5 or 10 divisions are joined into groups to help in their reading. The numbers on the rod are written upside-down, so that when observed in the telescope the figures would appear normal.
