Guidelines for performance

The procedure:

- solve problems 2.1-2.2 on the theme “Estimation and prevention

of earthquake effects on human activity” and write down conclusions and recommendations concerning earthquake effect on human activity;

- solve problems 2.3–2.5 on the theme “Lightning effects estimation on human activity. Determine basic parameters of lightning protection zones” and write down conlusions and recomendations to prevent negative effects of lightning on human activity.

Problem 2.1. Assess the earthquake hazard and damage level of the manufactory at the specified distance (R, m) from the hypocenter with the given magnitude on the Richter scale (I ₀). Provide some recommendation and measures to prevent the negative effects of the earthquake. Characteristics of bulding, construction (structure) material and type of soil under the industrial manufactory are represented in Table B.1.

Problem 2.2. Identify the earthquake effects for residents at the specified distance (R, m) from the hypocenter and estimate the probability of population losses. Assess the period of time, when – I and II phase of the earthquake gets the residential area. Characteristics of the bulding, construction material and type of soil under the industrial manufactory are represented in Table B.1.
